The AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide program does tax return preparation, including electronic filing, at no cost to taxpayers. Though the focus is low-to-moderate income households headed by someone 50 years and older, there is neither an age limit nor an income cap. If you're under 50, you're still very welcome to use Tax-Aide services. AARP membership is not required.

The district's summer-fall tax clinic ends on November 15, 2023.  Please call 707-536-1518 for an appointment.

 

We expect our regular tax season to begin again around February 1, 2024, at nine sites in Sonoma County. After November 15, we're available by phone or email (see below) for assistance, but are not available for face-to-face consultations or for tax preparation.

We will start accepting requests for appointments at our sites approximately mid-January. For the 2024 tax season, we probably will not accept walk-ins at any site. You must have an appointment in order to use our service. We will post phone numbers for our sites on this page in mid-January.

If you need a tax return prepared between November 15, 2023, and February 1, 2024, the only (relatively) local option that we are aware of for free tax preparation is with a different organization, Tax Aid, which is headquartered in downtown San Francisco. Your total annual income must be less than $60,000.
